After training in Los Angeles and spending 5 years learning the ins and outs of the business, I feel very confident in saying 'Dean West is one of, if not the best, acting coaches in the state of Louisiana.'

His unique approach to 'no specific method', 'no acting period' or 'living real life in imaginary circumstances' is one that the greenest of actors, or the veterans, can learn from. His resume speaks for itself, and the extent of his personal training is that of somebody serious about the biz, not about talking people into writing checks. Dean is refreshingly blunt, yet always knows how to get a new, dramatic change to a performance. He doesn't tiptoe around the truth, but he doesn't always give you the answer, he teaches in a way that allows the student to stumble creative solutions themselves.
I would highly recommend Dean West Acting Studio to anybody truly serious and humble about their craft.

I found the class very rewarding. Dean provides an environment that is not only fun but is safe. You're challenged to explore without the fear of failing. Whether it's delving into some deep emotions while working on technique, or building the life of a character completely different from you, or playing absurd improv games; Dean is there to help you find the truth. I was really able to stretch myself in class, observe great moments, and have a blast while doing it. It really nurtured me as an artist.

  1. When I launched my acting career I wanted a coach to give it to me straight. Dean did. Dean does. I wanted someone to teach me the basics, the right techniques. Dean did. Dean does. I wanted someone professional, witty, funny, frank, honest and experienced. Dean did. Dean was. Dean does. Dean is. The laughs in class were and are countless. The lessons were and are meaningful and, and most importantly, applicable. He encourages, inspires and leads by example. I've learned Dean's invaluable motto of "acting is the worst name for it" really does ironically ring true!
