I hate being judged.

For many actors, it is easier to express their emotions as a character that is far from whom they really are as a person.  When people make their judgments of your character, you don't feel like they are judging you ... you feel like they are judging your "character".  Our human nature is to guard ourselves from being judged.  We worry about what people think of us.  Get rid of playing a character.  There is no character, there is only you in the end.  Do not confuse this with not doing character work.  WHICH I WILL ADDRESS ANOTHER TIME. The emotions must be real for you.  Not real for the "character" because there is no character there is only the human being we see.  Do not create characters that are separate than who you are.  You must become one with the life you are now given.  The "character" will come alive with your emotions.  Do not judge, embrace.  The character doesn't have his own emotions.  You and the character must be "one" using the same real emotions.  It does not matter how far the character is from you.  It is your emotions either way; so you must take it all personal because the character must disappear and there can only be one human being.  The emotional attachment must come from you and you have to show the world your pain, fear, and even your deepest, darkest, secrets.    Audiences DO NOT WANT TO WATCH ACTORS!  We want to see human beings that we either hate or love.  We want to see you happy, and we love to see you sad.  We want to care about you, or we don't care to even see the film or TV show.  Get rid of the acting, put down your guard, and show us your life.  Your deepest and darkest fears are the tools that the world has given you for this job.  Live, learn, and experience.
